Meet Calypso & Her Offspring

Meet Calypso aka Calli, pictured in her shelter mug shot. She is a purebred German Shepherd dog, female. Callie has had one litter of pups that we know of.

This sweet beauty came to our group with her puppies. Calli was covered in ticks, malnourished, and surviving in a junk yard with her babies when she was resuced. She is so greatful and appreciative of any comfort that she gets. Calli was very insecure about coming inside the house and it was clear that she did not know how to walk on the floors having spent her entire life outside. Calli now enjoys coming inside, the comfort of her own crate, and her fluffy quilt that she sleeps on. She takes treats from her foster mom very gently and is learning to walk on a leash.

Calli is approximately 2-3 years of age, heartworm positive, and will be treated once she gains some weight. She lays on a dog bed and acts like she is afraid to do anything that might get her in trouble. At first she was showing her teeth to dogs who approached her and seemed defensive, but is getting more relaxed every day and now just looks at the other dogs showing no sign of aggression to them. We think she has great potential to be rehabilitated into a wonderful companion. You can see the joy in her in just having a safe comfortable place to lie down. She is now spayed, current on shots, and microchipped. Calli needs some time to build up her confidence and get her use to living the good life.

Here she is at her foster's home. She's
already looking more relaxed and happy!
