Brooke was adopted 3 years ago, but was returned back to the rescue because the owners were not home enough and did not have the tolerance or time to work with her shyness. Seeing the error of their ways, they came to the painful decision to give her back so that she could find a family with the time and patience to give her the love she needs.

Name: Brooke
Age: a young 4 1/2 - 5 years old
Gender: Female
Purebred or Mix: Mix
Houstrained: Yes
Cratetrained: Yes
Heartworm Negative/Positive: Negative
Spayed/Neutered: Yes
Micro chipped: Yes
Good with other dogs: Yes
Good with cats: Yes
Good with children: Yes

Today, Brooke is not the overly shy, nervous girl that initially came to her foster home. She is a sweet, happy but somewhat reserved girl; content to lay by the window or outside when her foster family is out, go for walks and loves car rides. She still startles easily at unexpected loud noises but comes quickly when called so she can be reassured that everything is all right. She also is hesitant when new people come to visit, but given time, usually comes up to them and gently asks for a pet by softly giving a lick on their hand or arm to get their attention.

In the few months that her foster family has had her, she has come a very long way. Before, her owners said that they couldn’t take her for walks because she was scared of everything, everybody and every noise. Now, she easily walks or jogs alongside her foster sister(s) and is eager to be outside and see the sights. Brooke loooooves to play with other dogs - big or small. She misses her rumpus time with the other foster dogs who lived there until they found their furever homes (her foster sisters are a little too old and don’t play so much anymore).

She is well mannered, good with all dogs and children, is housetrained, is not destructive, gently takes food from your hand and will sit patiently to get her treat. We have not figured out exactly what makes her cute little lazy ear stand up but it does sometimes. It is only one of her more endearing qualities.

Brookie-Brooke just needs a patient, gentle and loving owner who wants to lavish her with kindness and love... she is ready to give it in return!!

Caly Was Once A Junkyard Momma Dog!

You'd never know to look at her now!

This her mug shot:

From Caly's adopters: Caly has been so funny the last few days! She's been dancing around like a baby girl. This morning she came bouncing in, jumped up into the chair. She gets upset with me when I grab the camera though.....so I only got one. Yesterday, she barked like a real dog. We've found another treat she seems to love too......real stinky.

Dark As Night Is Ebony!

Ebony's Update 8/23/09

This just in from a volunteer:
Ebony has a big heart and really just wants to be loved. She has a bit of a dominant side and would be best off as an only dog. Although she may not get along perfectly with other dogs, she is absolutely wonderful with people. She lives to please. Ebony walks well on a leash and loves to get the exercise she needs. She has a beautiful black coat and inquisitive eyes. Ebony would make a great dog for someone willing to give her the love and attention that she deserves.

Ebony is a beautiful 4 year old female, black German Shepherd dog. She is spayed, micro chipped, all shots, heart worm negative. Knows sit, down and probably other commands not yet discovered. She is house and crate trained. Ebony would do best as an only dog. She is new to the pack, and seems to be dominate. She is getting a slow introduction to the rest of the dogs. She is good with humans, sweet, cooperative and affectionate, loves to ride in a car and very well behaved.

If you are interested in adopting Ebony, please go to our website, copy, paste & complete our adoption application, then email it to gsdrescuectx@yahoo.com.
