Update From India's Adopters

"India, will be 3 years old next month.  She's doing great and really likes the change. Especially since the new house has lots of windows. Which means that even when she's in the yard, she can keep an eye on us!  We did some more training with her and she's much better on the leash (she had some leash aggression when she approached other dogs. She still does it once it a while but only when a dog is very close and challenges her. Mostly she has mellowed out a great deal through positive reinforcement training). She also has become a water dog! As you probably remember, she loved her frisbee. Well, we started taking her to the lake (about a mile from our house) and as soon as it got hot, she began chasing the frisbee right into the water! I've attached some pictures so you can see her when she's at her happiest. I think swimming after the frisbee is now her favorite activity.

When we picked her up from you, she had injured her front leg.  Well, she kept re-injuring it and so we took her to the vet and learned that she has degenerative joint disease in both elbows.  The doctor didn't recommend surgery as he felt it was a risky surgery. He also felt that if we got her weight down (she's at 69 pounds, slightly less than when we got her from you almost two years ago) she would likely be fine.  If she has pain (and this sometimes happens if she hurts herself playing--but only every couple of months or so), we give her anti-inflammatories, as per the vet's suggestion.  The swimming really helps so we try to take her as often as possible. Otherwise, she really is thriving and happy and probably a little spoiled from me being home all day with her!  But she's still the good girl you remember. Real sweet and loving and so great around the house-- our guests are always impressed by her manners (especially when we are dining! She never begs. Only finds a nice spot a distance away to relax while we eat).
Just wanted to let you know that all is well with India and to thank you again for placing her with us. We adore her! Enjoy the attached pictures."
