From Dirk's Adopter We Hear...
Pearl's (Kimber) New Home With Sarge-Happy Tails
From adopters: "We got Pearl 3 weeks ago. She is our 2nd adopted dog from you. Pearl is now Kimber, and she likes her name. She is really still a big puppy (even has the smell of a puppy at time; how delicious) and is looking for the right things to play with. She now knows that the comforter, even if it smells like cat, is not for chewing. Daddy's underwear gets put in the hamper as soon as she brings it out into the living room, mommy's shoes are all in the closet now, and there is no more food on the counter (our last sausage grill was people 4 sausages, Kimber 6, followed by a bout of tummy ache).
Kimber has met the cat and the neighbors, and is curious but polite with all of them. One of our neighbors even commented how much happier Sarge looks now that he has a sister. They play with gusto, jumping, chasing, gnawing. Kimber is always the second through the door, so I think Sarge is in charge, but at times she gets a hold of his collar and just drags him a few feet, and he lets her.
Her favorite game by far is playing tug-o-war with her brother. After that she loves to snuggle with mom or dad. She shows when she wants to go out (sitting in front of the door) and, she knows how to let us know when it is time to go (now!) by putting her nose on the door knob.
There is so much more, I could go on and on. She is so beautiful inside and out and we love her with all our hearts, as she does us, judging by how closely she snuggles on the couch or in bed."
Update From India's Adopters
When we picked her up from you, she had injured her front leg. Well, she kept re-injuring it and so we took her to the vet and learned that she has degenerative joint disease in both elbows. The doctor didn't recommend surgery as he felt it was a risky surgery. He also felt that if we got her weight down (she's at 69 pounds, slightly less than when we got her from you almost two years ago) she would likely be fine. If she has pain (and this sometimes happens if she hurts herself playing--but only every couple of months or so), we give her anti-inflammatories, as per the vet's suggestion. The swimming really helps so we try to take her as often as possible. Otherwise, she really is thriving and happy and probably a little spoiled from me being home all day with her! But she's still the good girl you remember. Real sweet and loving and so great around the house-- our guests are always impressed by her manners (especially when we are dining! She never begs. Only finds a nice spot a distance away to relax while we eat).
Just wanted to let you know that all is well with India and to thank you again for placing her with us. We adore her! Enjoy the attached pictures."
