Here's what his family has to say:
"Just wanted to let everyone know Carson is doing great. He gets to run and play fetch everyday and doesn't even have to ever go in his crate. He has met kids and done great with them. He meets new people everyday on our walks and other dogs and being less scared. He has already learned to shake and pretty much has taking a bow down. We have even brought him to a friends house w three other dogs and did great playing w them. He is very protective of us and we are working w him on greeting people coming into the house. He is a perfect match for our family. Please let us know when there are events, we would love to bring him so he can see everyone. Thanks so much for everything."

Meet Jingle Bell
Jingle Bell was picked up as a stray in Waco.
She is clearly emaciated, but eating small amounts 4 times a day and would eat
all day if we let her. She is very sweet and loving to humans. She goes right from crate to her run every day and seems
extremely smart and willing to please...a very compliant girl who appears very
thankful too for the warmth and food she is now getting. She is Heat worm
negative, has all her shots and the vet said she is about 2 years old. She
seems to be in good health other than having been starved.
Age: 2-3yrs estimated
Gender: female
Weight: very much underweight due to terrible neglect
Mix/Purebred: probably pure
Housetrained: yes
Crate trained: yes, goes in without trouble at all
Heartworm Negative/Positive: negative
Spayed/Neutered: will be when she is up to her ideal weight
Micro chipped: yes
Good with other dogs: Assessing
Good with cats: unknown
Good with children: good with all people thus far but not assessed with children yet
More info on this girl soon. It is clear she
will be a beautiful sable once she gains weight, please put in your application

days.

From Katya's Adopters We Hear....
the following:
"Hi to all at GSD Rescue:
Katya was in her first formal obedience class yesterday and she was awesome. When the other class members did the long sit I stood about a foot and a half in front of her and she never broke her sit. Everyone just loved her and she was friendly to all! She was very well behaved even when I left her at her tie out stake to go walk the Rally course. Other dogs were whining or barking but she just watched me and was quiet!. No one could believe how good she was to be so young!
More reports will follow as we progress through her training."

Adopted Czar Update!
Hello Miss Beverly and GS Rescue Folks!
I wanted to just drop a line to let you all know that Czar is fine and seems to be adjusting well here at home :)
I attach a picture for you to see - he has already put on a little weight and his coat is coming in nice and bright and thick.
We go walking a couple times a day and are discovering Austin's parks and trails together in a new and awesome way.
I wanted to thank you again for helping to cover his foot surgery - it really was a great help for us, and Czar's foot is almost totally healed now, with only a scar to show.
The surgery required a little more healing time than we had expected - about 4 weeks, and 2 weeks with the awful head cone! But Czar has been precious and is so well behaved, he literally has not been anything but a pure pleasure. I will keep you posted if you like on our progress - his puppy side is starting to come out now and he's even talking a little! Thank you again for bringing us together :)
With love,
[Adopter]

Success Stories Are Fabulous! Here's Layla (Miley)
Layla has been great, although a bit obsessive. She remains as sweet and loving as ever but loves to sit on the couch upstairs in front of the window, guarding her castle. She lives and breathes to play ball. We have about 15 tennis balls around the house and in the back yard...under the couch, behind the couch, behind tv's, in her bed, under my bed. I think they breed. She will catch everything you throw at her. If you throw it straight up, she will catch it ever time. It's really quite impressive and people love to show her off at parties. I've wondered before if they have competitions for it.
She hates thunderstorms and her and our other dog would cuddle together in our closet when they happen. It's the only time we'll let them in our bed. She would cuddle non stop if she could though. She's a german shepherd through and through with her loyalty.
She also loves to sit on things. We had a recycling bin in the back yard that became her favorite toy. If she wasn't throwing it around the yard, she would carry it with her and sit on it like a chair. She'll sit on us, on the stairs, on other dogs heads. It's hilarious.
We couldn't have asked for a more loving and devoted family dog. I can't wait to start helping out again in the new year at the rescue.

Mandy Update
"She has completely benefitted from her training. She is so fantastic on the leash now and listens very well. She walks right beside us and does not even acknowledge other dogs or people while walking. Kelly took her to the dog park a few weeks ago and she played very well. So whoever said she was untrainable clearly is on something. =] We absolutely adore her, she is spoiled rotten to say the least. Oh and she loves frisbee, not catching it just yet but she's so close!"

Update: Destiny Now Kiya
Andrew and I thought you'd enjoy a couple new pictures of Kiya. She's doing spectacularly, all things considered. We're looking forward to the day we don't have to chastise her for getting excited! In the mean time, she's taken well to looking out for the kittens... Grooming them is quickly becoming her favorite activity. Napping alongside them is a close second!
Hope all is well,

Rocket's Been Adopted!
Rocket came to us the week of June 18, 2012 so we have not had much time to assess him but the shelter says the following about him:
He is a big goofy puppy who loves to play and is good on a leash. He is great with other dogs and keeps his kennel clean. He loves the water and is very smart. He is respectful to cats (not sure that means he loves them though). He is a people pleaser, well-mannered and a perfect companion for a family. Overall he is a big sweetheart. He is currently up to date on shots and ready for puppy class...which he would make an A+ in with a little time and one on one attention...any dog is waiting for that! Won’t you give him a chance to be part of a loving family?
Gender: male
Weight: 73 lbs. as of June 2012
Mix/Purebred: mix
Housetrained: yes
Crate trained: assessing
Heartworm Negative/Positive: negative
Spayed/Neutered: Neutered
Micro chipped: Yes
Good with other dogs: assessing, but said to be good
Good with cats: unknown

Turbo is a fun and loving sweet boy
who was found lost in the country with a belt around his neck, hungry and
afraid. The lady that found him was able to gain his trust with food, shelter
and love. Turbo is the kind of dog that likes to follow his human around and
develops a strong bond. He seems to listen to women better than men, but likes
everyone equally. His ears perk straight up on occasion and he loves people!
Turbo gets along well with cats,
chickens, ducks, goats and horses. He loves to play with other dogs and is very
energetic, but will calm down with told to. Turbo is house and kennel trained
and does not chew shoes or mess with things in the house. He adjusted very well
to being a house dog.

Turbo is learning to sit and shake
and his leash manners are coming along. He is very smart and willing to learn.
He rides quietly in a car and comes immediately when called. You can't ask for
better manners than that at this stage and age and we see lots of potential in
this cute boy!

Brooke was adopted 3 years ago, but was returned back to the rescue because the owners were not home enough and did not have the tolerance or time to work with her shyness. Seeing the error of their ways, they came to the painful decision to give her back so that she could find a family with the time and patience to give her the love she needs.
Name: Brooke
Age: a young 4 1/2 - 5 years old
Gender: Female
Purebred or Mix: Mix
Houstrained: Yes
Cratetrained: Yes
Heartworm Negative/Positive: Negative
Spayed/Neutered: Yes
Micro chipped: Yes
Good with other dogs: Yes
Good with cats: Yes
Good with children: Yes
Today, Brooke is not the overly shy, nervous girl that initially came to her foster home. She is a sweet, happy but somewhat reserved girl; content to lay by the window or outside when her foster family is out, go for walks and loves car rides. She still startles easily at unexpected loud noises but comes quickly when called so she can be reassured that everything is all right. She also is hesitant when new people come to visit, but given time, usually comes up to them and gently asks for a pet by softly giving a lick on their hand or arm to get their attention.
In the few months that her foster family has had her, she has come a very long way. Before, her owners said that they couldn’t take her for walks because she was scared of everything, everybody and every noise. Now, she easily walks or jogs alongside her foster sister(s) and is eager to be outside and see the sights. Brooke loooooves to play with other dogs - big or small. She misses her rumpus time with the other foster dogs who lived there until they found their furever homes (her foster sisters are a little too old and don’t play so much anymore).
She is well mannered, good with all dogs and children, is housetrained, is not destructive, gently takes food from your hand and will sit patiently to get her treat. We have not figured out exactly what makes her cute little lazy ear stand up but it does sometimes. It is only one of her more endearing qualities.
Brookie-Brooke just needs a patient, gentle and loving owner who wants to lavish her with kindness and love... she is ready to give it in return!!
