Hello Bev and everybody at the rescue center. I have now been with my people family for one whole year today. I am told that I am a very good dog. I listen and behave while enjoying the loving companionship of my family.
We still play ball every day (all day if I had my way) it’s my favorite thing in the whole world. I love pleasing my family my man and lady say that I am so good they love taking me in the car for visits to other family and friends. It’s fun to go visiting and meeting new people and their pets.
I am so happy here and I want all you other friends at the shelter to find a good loving home. I go see my doctor twice a year and he gives me a good checkup and sometimes a shot or two, than he tell my people how healthy I have become. I weigh 87 pounds and he said for my size it is a good weight. My hip joints don’t bother me very often as my people give me something twice a day they tell me it’s a treat but I know it’s medicine.
CopyKat and I get along most of the day but I like chasing her at night when my people are watching the news. She can really run fast and jump up on high things she knows we are playing as she doesn’t hiss and make noises at me.
I just wanted to drop you a note and tell you how much I appreciate all you did for me by rescuing me from them mean people. I am very happy with my family and they really love me and I love them too. Please let all my friends associated with the shelter that I love them and was very lucky you found me and took me in giving me a chance for a happy life.
Brees and Family
Bye for now

Patches Shares
“Life sure has been different since Bev, the director, and I met at the Town Lake shelter and boy am I glad she scooped me up and gave me chance! Since then, I arrived at my new foster family's home and I'm learning so much from my foster siblings!!! They are both so smart and somebody said so am I!
Just this last week, you can see from the photos what I've picked up. I learned how to "sit", "shake", & the "down" command.
I learned how to "tug" and "share" with my big brother. I discovered that I LOVE to play soccer and I now know how to "share" favorite sleeping spots.
I love to share and play with them both...
and I wanted to thank you all for giving me the opportunity to start a new beautiful life. I know it's just beginning and I can't wait to see what is next for me- and maybe your family!!!
Love,

Check Out Our Stanley
Here he is playing with his foster friend. Just click on the here to view.
My name is Stanley. I am extremely sweet and cooperative. I try and do whatever is asked of me and am doing my best to please. I have learned to sit on command and walk on the leash well. I am a pretty quiet dog with a sweet little spirit. I have had no problems with any of the other dogs at the rescue. I do have some Shar Pei in me, if you didn't notice the characteristics of broad shoulders that give me somewhat of a bulldoggish stance, and my slight wrinkles on my forehead which makes me appear like a great thinker at all times!
I also have the standard trait of being quite a talker, giving you my opinion when I think it is needed and my opinion is that I have been in rescue too long- won't you put your application in on me?
I like to snuggle in bed at night but I could be ok in my own bed too. I am very good about telling my person when I need to go outside. I like being outside and I also like being inside. I like walks and enjoy playing. I require daily brushing but that is it- I am an easy to care for dog.
My uniquely rough, loose coat has the typical Shepherd coloring. Shar Pei's are an independent breed, very owner-oriented as are GSD's. They are protective and both are very intelligent and usually excel in obedience training.
They are both quick to learn so this is a great combo! Stanley is such a cutie pie - he loves to attention and would love to be part of your family.
Update from his foster home:
Who says you can’t have your cake and eat it too? Guys do you want a “manly” dog but the wife wants a cute cuddly dog? Stanley is the dog for you! He has swagger and rugged good looks but is very loving and gentle. He is very smart and easy to train. He loves to cuddle, play with toys, and take walks. His energy level is low to medium so he does not require extensive exercise but would love to go on daily walks or runs. He may look like a fighter but he’s a lover!

I am very sweet and cooperative. I try and do whatever is asked of me and am doing my best to please. I am so grateful to be alive and out of the kill shelter. I have learned to sit on command, walk on the leash well and I ride in a car pretty well. I am a pretty quiet dog with a sweet little spirit. I have had no problems with any of the other dogs at the rescue. I do have some Shar Pei in me...if you didn't notice..the characteristics of broad shoulders that give me somewhat of a bulldoggish stance, and my slight wrinkles on my forehead which makes me appear like a great thinker at all times! : )

I like to snuggle in bed at night- but I could be ok in my own bed too. I am very good about telling my person when I need to go outside. I like being outside and I also like being inside. I like walks and enjoy playing. I require minimal maintenance. Brushing with a good bristle brush every other day keeps my unique coat in excellent condition

Who says you can’t have your cake and eat it too? Guys do you want a “manly” dog but the wife wants a cute cuddly dog? Stanley is the dog for you! He has swagger and rugged good looks but is very loving and gentle. He is a Shar Pei mix which was bred to guard the Chinese temple so he is protective of his person and rarely leaves their side. He is very smart and easy to train. He loves to cuddle, play with toys, and take walks. His energy level is low to medium so he does not require extensive exercise and with his coat minimal grooming is needed. His unique coat is tough but slick from the neck down but soft like a horse’s nose on his head. He sighs when you rub his face or chin area. He may look like a fighter but he’s a lover!

I am very sweet and cooperative. I try and do whatever is asked of me and am doing my best to please. I am so grateful to be alive and out of there. When Jenny, one of our volunteers with our director gave me a bath, I did not resist at all. I just stood quietly and let them get me all clean and smelling A LOT better- now I feel better too. I sit on command, walk on the leash well and like to ride in a car ~ all done quietly and with a sweet little spirit. I have had no problems with any of the other dogs at the rescue. I have some scars on my head and legs and they think I might have been a bait dog in a dog fighting ring...if I could talk I would tell them all the many hardships I have really faced...not sure they would want to know. I have put that behind me and am ready to move on. I can't wait for a loving home.
PS. I love for my head to be rubbed- evident in one of my glamor shots. Anyway, I am so glad they gave me a chance for a new better life....I wonder if it will be with you and your family? Won't you come out to meet me and see if I am the dog for you?
