You Won't Even Recognize Rush. Of Course His Name Is Now Duke and It Fits!

Duke is doing great and is scheduled for his neutering on Monday the 22nd. We'll send you the paperwork as soon as it's done. He was over 60 pounds when we weighed him several weeks ago and is probably near 70 by now. Of course he is still a joy and we love him as a member of the family. You can see the bloodhound in him and I think that may be where he gets his sweet disposition.

Here In This House

Here in this house... I will never know the loneliness I hear in the barks of the other dogs 'out there'.
Here in this house.....I can sleep soundly, assured that when I wake, my world will not have changed. I will never know hunger, or the fear of not knowing if I'll eat. I will not shiver in the cold, or grow weary from the heat. I will feel the sun's heat, and the rain's coolness, and be allowed to smell all that can reach my nose. My fur will shine, and never be dirty or matted.
Here in this house... There will be an effort to communicate with me on my level. I will be talked to and, even if I don't understand, I can enjoy the warmth of the words. I will be given a name so that I may know who I am among many. My name will be used in joy, and I will love the sound of it! Here in this house... I will never be a substitute for anything I am not. I will never be used to improve peoples' images of themselves. I will be loved because I am who I am, not someone's idea of who I should be. I will never suffer for someone's anger, impatience, or stupidity. I will be taught all the things I need to know to be loved by all. If I do not learn my lessons well, they will look to my teacher for blame. Here in this house... I can trust arms that hold, hands that touch...knowing that, no matter what they do, they do it for the good of me. If I am ill, I will be doctored. If scared, I will be calmed. If sad, I will be cheered. No matter what I look like, I will be considered beautiful and known to be of value.

I will never be cast out because I am too old, too ill, too unruly, or not cute enough. My life is a responsibility, and not an afterthought. I will learn that humans can almost, sometimes, be as kind and as fair as dogs.

Here in this house... I will belong. I will be home. ~Author unknown

Radar's Adopter Shouts Out!

Radar and I are having a blast together! We've been jogging most mornings and playing soccer/tennis at night. To my utter amazement Radar can catch a soccer ball(youth sized) in his mouth while running at full speed. It is now our preferred way play.

He and Ben are playing like buddies and everything is going smoothly.

Thanks again for all your help with the adoption!

German Shepherd Rescue Has Puppies, Purebreds, Mixes & Puppy Mixes For Adoption!

The puppies need spay/neuter, but do not hesitate to fill out an application or better yet, ask to meet them! Volunteers await to answer your questions & share your excitement! Don't pass up the German shepherd mixes either. Mixes make amazing companions, I'll vouch for that!
This is Rascal, adopted almost 5 years ago!

This is my Rowe-Quinn, adopted almost 4 years ago and he's a great companion.

Another Adopter Speaks To Us! WARNING-Ottomans Are Dangerous For Dogs!

Zuri is finally over her URI, and she's become a little rascal! She teases Banjo into playing with her! Zuri will take Banjo's toys right out of his mouth and run off with them! She also tries to bite his tail! They are so wonderful together! They always play together and love going for walks with me!
The other night Zuri fell asleep on the ottoman, half-on half-off. It was so funny! She slept there for about 10 minutes before sliding to the ground! Luckily we were able to snap a quick picture of her! Silly girl!

Banjo's training class is going so well! I love working with him! He's a smart boy and is learning so quickly! He's definitely making his Mama proud! :)

Banjo and Zuri played in the snow last week! Zuri loved the snow, she couldn't get enough of it! Banjo liked it, but not as much as Zuri. It was too cold for his little feet! haha!

[A friend] said that she gave her dogs carrots. I thought that was pretty neat so tonight I got some carrots for the pack! They have been munching on them like crazy! They love it! Zuri is stealing Banjo's carrot right now!
